Man’s body found in tent on Mission Flats Road in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – Police in Kamloops are investigating after a badly decomposed body was found on Mission Flats Road.

Kamloops RCMP say a passerby saw a tent behind a tree as he was walking along the Thompson River next to Mission Flats Road yesterday, Aug. 16. He approached the tent but as he got closer, he could smell a strong odour.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a media release police were notified and when officers went inside the tent, they found a badly decomposed body.

Shelkie says the body appears to be that of an adult man. At this time, RCMP have no evidence leading them to believe the death is suspicious.

Drugs and drug paraphernalia were found inside the tent.

The B.C. Coroners Service is involved in the investigation and will perform an autopsy to determine a cause of death and the approximate age and height of the man.

Shelkie says police are reviewing all missing person files and the investigation is ongoing.
