‘Suspicious package’ closes Via Rail train station in Vancouver

VANCOUVER – The Vancouver police say a suspicious package has prompted the closure of the city’s Via Rail station.

A brief news release says the Pacific Central Station, located on Main Street just southeast of the city’s downtown core, is closed, though the announcement contains very little detail about the package.

The police department warns travellers using the station to expect delays.

Nearby streets have also been closed to traffic.

The station also serves as a stop for Greyhound buses and U.S.-bound Amtrak trains.
