Shuswap lawyer will be Kamloops’s newest provincial court judge
KAMLOOPS – Kamloops's newest provincial court judge is a Crown prosecutor from the Shuswap and North Okanagan.
Mariane Ruth Armstrong will be sworn in as a provincial court judge in Kamloops next month.
This comes after provincial court judge Len Marchand Jr. was moved up to a Supreme Court position in Kelowna.
Armstrong has served as a Crown prosecutor in Salmon Arm and Vernon from 1989 to 2005, and from 2006 to this year.
She currently serves as the administrative Crown counsel in Salmon Arm.
Armstrong prosecuted a high-profile spanking case in Salmon Arm last year, where a mother and father got 12 months probation for assaulting their teenage daughter with a miniature hockey stick and a skipping rope as punishment for sending nude pictures on Snapchat.
