KELOWNA – Mounties investigating a suspected bomb in Rutland yesterday soon realized they were dealing with a different device for getting blasted—a bong.
Kelowna RCMP were told of the suspicious package lying at the side of the road in the 400 block of Ziprick Road at about 4:45 p.m. Sept. 11. When they arrived, they saw what looked like a homemade bomb, completely wrapped in red duct tape. After securing the area, police called for assistance from the police service dog unit. The dog quickly confirmed the object was not a bomb.
After examining the package, Mounties determined it was a bong, a homemade water pipe filtration device used for smoking marijuana. It was seized and will be destroyed.
