Penticton RCMP investigating break-ins

PENTICTON – Penticton RCMP are investigating four brazen break and enters that took place earlier this week.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says police were alerted at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21 about a break in to a South Main Street residence where the suspect entered through a sliding window, taking a wallet, watch, change and a cell phone.

At 9 a.m., police were called to a Kingfisher Drive residence where the thief or thieves entered a garage and took a wallet and a set of keys from an unlocked vehicle. Two hours prior to the theft a woman and a man with a large dog was seen running out of the yard.

At 9:45 a.m., police responded to a report of a theft from a vehicle at the Empire Motel. Police discovered a Chevy Silverado had been entered sometime overnight and a wallet and credit cards taken.

At 10:30 a.m., police were called to a Victoria Drive residence where a garage break in was reported. The suspect took a kids bike and several tools from the unlocked garage.

Meanwhile, officers at the RCMP detachment took a man into custody on another matter, and found items in his possession that were stolen from the garage break and enter on Kingfisher Drive.

A 24-year-old man has been charged with possession of stolen property.

I have been looking for news in the South Okanagan - SImilkameen for 20 years, having turned a part time lifelong interest into a full time profession. After five years publishing a local newsletter, several years working as a correspondent / stringer for several local newspapers and seven years as editor of a Similkameen weekly newspaper, I joined iNFOnews.ca in 2014. As an airborne geophysical surveyor I travelled extensively around the globe, conducting helicopter borne mineral surveys.

As a member of the Kaleden community, I have been involved in the Kaleden Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, and also serve as a trustee on the Kaleden Irrigation District board.
I am currently married to my wife Judy, of 26 years. We are empty-nesters who enjoy living in Kaleden with our Welsh Terrier, Angus, and cat, Tibbs.
