Police in Vancouver investigate the city’s 15th homicide of the year
VANCOUVER – Police say they’re investigating the 15th homicide of the year in Vancouver after human remains were found in a large recycling bin Sunday morning.
They say the blue bin was found in the water off Kits Point, a neighbourhood near Kitsilano Beach.
The Canadian Coast Guard recovered the bin after multiple calls from people on the water around 11 a.m.
Police and the B.C. Coroners Service determined the remains were human.
Const. Tania Visintin says police are asking local residents and property managers to check their recycling and garbage rooms to see if any wheeled blue recycling containers are missing.
They’re also asking anyone who saw the blue recycling bin in the water to come forward.
