Teeth found at Vernon beach turned in to RCMP, identified as non-human

VERNON – Found alongside a pair of dentures on the shores of Okanagan Lake, a jawbone with a few teeth still intact raised a few eyebrows in Vernon this week.

Devon Kilpatrick found the chompers near Kin Beach and posted the pictures on Facebook with the message: Anyone missing one of these two completely different sets of teeth?”

Commenters were quick to suggest a trip to the RCMP detachment, in case the jawbone was from a human. Kilpatrick did just that.

Cpl. Dan Moskaluk confirms the bone was turned in to the Vernon detachment, examined and determined to not be human.

It remains unknown what animal it came from.

Kilpatrick said the dentures were reunited with their owner, who was quite excited to get his false teeth back after dropping them the day before.

Anyone who thinks they might have found human remains should contact the RCMP immediately.
