
Ground officially broken on channel development
PENTICTON – The new Penticton Nissan dealership is beginning to take shape in Penticton.
Official ground breaking ceremonies for the first commercial enterprise on locatee lands across the Okanagan River channel took place this morning, Aug. 25.
Penticton Nissan owner John Kot said he hopes to open the $7-million development Dec. 15.
He said after looking around Penticton, the channel lands offered the best venue for the dealership, adding negotiations with the locatee members had gone well.
Former Penticton Indian Band Chief Jonathan Kruger was on hand for the ceremony this morning. He says locatees are in talks for more business to be developed across the channel.
Band Chief Chad Eneas, Penticton Mayor Andrew Jakubeit and Penticton Indian Band Councillor Elliott Tonasket were also present at the site this morning.
