Community Foundation 2018 granting cycle has begun
PENTICTON – The Community Foundation of the South Okanagan Similkameen has changed the dates for its grant writing cycle.
It's already underay and closes on Oct. 20, according to a media release. The grants awarded will be disturbed in January 2018.
The timeline was changed from previous years to better accommodate the local organizations planning for the upcoming year, the Foundation says.
“We met with a good portion of the local charities and the feedback was to move the timeline to the end of the year so the organizations can plan for their upcoming year knowing what funding they have confirmed,” manager of grants and community initiatives Sarah Trudeau says in the release.
More than $400,000 will be distributed to charities in the region. Throughout the South Okanagan Similkameen, local organizations who are a registered charity or who have a qualified donee or a partner charitable organization they work with will be eligible for the grants.
“We provide grants to every area of community need because every area of need is important,” Trudeau says. “Grants were approved for projects from breakfast programs to addiction recovery and environmental awareness, to name just a few."

The process for projects under $1,000 will only take minutes, however, if a request is for more money there are more detailed questions about the project goals and budget, the Foundation says.
