Al-Jazeera America outlines news programming schedule; Seigenthaler to nightly newscast

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Former NBC News anchor John Seigenthaler (SEE’-gehn-thaw-luhr) will host Al-Jazeera America’s central nightly newscast when the network goes on the air next Tuesday.

Al-Jazeera has announced the hiring of several U.S. television veterans for its new network. Until Wednesday it had said little about what its schedule would look like.

Seigenthaler’s hourlong show will air at 8 p.m. Eastern time. It will be followed by a magazine-style show anchored by Joie Chen called “America Tonight.”

Other weeknight programs include a business-oriented show with Ali Velshi and a talk show with Antonio Mora.
