B.C. RCMP renew pleas for three-year-old case of missing Australia man

KELOWNA, B.C. – The RCMP in B.C.’s Interior are renewing their public plea for information in a three-year-old missing-person case involving an Australian man.

Twenty-four-year-old Owen Rooney was last seen on Aug. 14, 2010, walking away from a hospital in Grand Forks, B.C.

He was apparently on his way to a bus to bring him to Kelowna, where he was living and working, but hasn’t been seen since.

His backpack and cellphone were found at the hospital.

Rooney’s family spent more than eight months in B.C. searching for him, though they have long since returned to Australia.

The RCMP are once again asking anyone with information about Rooney’s whereabouts to contact police.
