Film adaptation of Wagamese novel to screen at Vancouver International Film Festival

VANCOUVER – A film adaptation of Kamloops author Richard Wagamese's novel will be shown at this year's Vancouver International Film Festival.

As part of the True North series being shown at the festival, "Indian Horse" will be played during the September film festival.

The film is an adaptation of Wagamese's novel by the same name, which details the life and struggles of an Ojibway man.

The renowned author died earlier this year. Crews began shooting the movie in the fall of 2016 and some scenes were shot in Kamloops.

The film is directed by Stephen Campanelli and the cast includes Sladen Peltier, Forrest Goodluck, Ajuawak Kapashesit, Michiel Huisman, Martin Donovan and Edna Manitowabi.

Indian Horse doesn't have a set date of when it will be screening at the Vancouver International Film Festival, but tickets to the fest are available here.

The festival runs from Sept. 28 to Oct. 13.
