Kamloops breaks 50-year-old record for hottest day

KAMLOOPS – Kamloops broke a high temperature record today.

On this day in 1967 the mercury hit 35 Celsius in Kamloops and today 50 years later we finally surpassed that mark to set a new heat record of 38.1 C.

The City hit the record breaking mark around 4 p.m., Aug. 29, as the temperature climbed four degrees in an hour. Luckily for anybody working outside, the temperature is now starting to trend back down and should be below 30 C by 8 p.m.

The record breaking heat is not expected to continue as it is only forecast to reach 32 C tomorrow while the record is 35.6 C.
