BULL WATCH: Kamloops residents spot signs of the bull on the loose

KAMLOOPS – Dallas resident Ceci Tolman is no stranger to wildlife intruding on her property, but one thing she didn't expect to see in her backyard was a bull.

Early Sunday morning, Aug. 27, Tolman was startled by a noise outside of her property. Her two cats were growling and Tolman knew something was up.

She says she and her husband are accustomed to the occasional bear or deer on their property, but something sounded different.

"I thought someone was actually in the house. My husband just laid there," Tolman laughed.

When they assessed their property on Crawford Place in the morning, they knew this culprit wasn't a bear or deer.

A gate to Tolman's backyard had been broken, there were hoof prints throughout her backyard, and their wooden retaining wall had been damaged.

After speaking with her neighbours, Tolman realized there was a bull on the loose.

"I was like 'What?'," Tolman says.

Two of her neighbours reportedly had hoof prints through their backyards as well, and the bull ripped through one of their fences.

The bull in question is missing from the B.C. Livestock Yard on Dallas Drive. RCMP have only received one report of someone actually spotting the beast and it remains on the lam.

"We haven't seen him ourselves," Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie. "We're not sure if he's in Dallas or on the hill leading up to Juniper."

Kamloops RCMP sent out a news release earlier this week asking residents to be on the lookout for the bovine who escaped from the livestock yard last week.

The bull is 1,400 lbs. with tan skin, large horns, and no brands or markings. If you see the animal, call Kamloops RCMP at 250-828-3000.
