WINNIPEG – Gary Crowton was fired as the offensive co-ordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Sunday.
Marcel Bellefeuille will take over co-ordinator duties for the remainder of the year.
“No one in our organization is happy with the way we have performed so far this season,” said Bombers head coach Tim Burke. “Our offence has not played up to their standards and we need to make this change in order to give us a chance at remaining in the hunt for the post season. I wish Gary all the best in his future endeavours.”
Bellefeuille was added to Winnipeg’s coaching staff on Aug. 12 after spending last season with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League.
He was the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ head coach from 2009-2011 and has an extensive background in the CFL, working as a position coach and offensive co-ordinator with the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Montreal Alouettes and Ticats.
