SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador – Prosecutors in El Salvador say arrest warrants have been issued for about 50 people involved in drug trafficking, including police officers, a politician and a soccer team official.
The country’s attorney general said Monday the suspects include three National Police officers who aided the three trafficking operations by passing them information.
Those involved include a former small-town mayoral candidate as well as Adalid Magana, who served in the management of the second-division soccer team Once Municipal.
Prosecutors say the drug trafficking rings were linked to El Salvador’s street gangs.
