95-year-old facing murder charge after death at B.C. care facility

VERNON, B.C. – The RCMP say a 95-year-old man is facing a murder charged after a deadly assault at a care facility in the B.C. Interior.

Police were called about an assault at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital’s residential care facility on Sunday night.

An 85-year-old man died of his injuries.

A news release says John Furman made his first appearance on a charge of murder on Monday, where he was ordered into custody until his next appearance on Wednesday.

An autopsy is expected to be completed on Wednesday.
