SHAWINIGAN, Que. – Zachary Bolduc’s power-play goal late in the second period snapped a 2-2 deadlock and proved to be the difference Sunday as the visiting Quebec Remparts trimmed the Shawinigan Cataractes 3-2 to move within a game of clinching their semifinal series.
Xavier Filion and Nicolas Savoie also scored for the Remparts, who lead the best-of-five series 2-1 with Game 4 in Shawinigan on Monday.
Jordan Tourigny and Zachary Massicotte scored for the Cataractes, who outshot the visitors 28-26. All three games in the series have been decided by one goal.
Meanwhile in Sherbrooke, Que., Xavier Simoneau’s power-play goal at 17:57 of the third period broke a 2-2 tie and gave the visiting Charlottetown Islanders a 3-2 win over the Phoenix.
Patrick Guy scored twice for Charlottetown and also assisted on the game winner.
Stephane Jr Huard and Tyson Hinds scored for the Phoenix, who now trail the best-of-five series 2-1.
Charlotte outshot Sherbrooke 33-30. Game 4 is Monday in Sherbrooke.
