Paddle boarding just one of the crazy things this Vernon man does with his cat
VERNON – A Vernon man is earning a reputation for bringing his pet cat everywhere with him — and when we say everywhere, we mean everywhere.
You might have noticed J.D. Batbatan and his Bengal cat Logan hitting up local drive-thrus, mountain biking or even ‘cat boarding’ on a stand up paddle board on Kalamalka Lake.
“He goes everywhere with me,” Batbatan says. “He acts more like a dog — except I don’t think he can bark.”
Logan — named after the character from X-Men — likes to stick his head out the window on drives and casually prowls about at the end of Batbatan’s stand up paddle board during outings on the lake.

“It’s getting kind of famous here in town,” Batbatan says. “Some people stop me, or take a video and follow me which is kind of sketchy. But most people just really love it and you can see them smiling which is awesome.”
While cats are known for hating water, Logan doesn’t seem to mind his tours on the lake, Batbatan says. He doesn’t even wear a life jacket, because he's a pretty good swimmer.
Batbatan shares videos and photos of their adventures on Instagram, and hopes their story will inspire others to get out and enjoy all that Vernon has to offer.
“Vernon is so awesome. People should take advantage of it. If the cat can go outside, why can’t they?”
