Boy rescued in Oliver camper fire dies
OLIVER – The devastating fire that claimed an Oliver family’s possessions has claimed their most precious possession.
Cody O’Conner, 8, died Friday, Sept. 13 at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice after he was taken off life support.
O’Conner was pulled from a burning motorhome in Oliver On Aug. 28 by the town’s off duty fire chief Dan Skaros. He had followed the smell of smoke, smashed out the rear window in the camper and grabbed the boy.
O’Conner had suffered extensive smoke inhalation and burns to 40 percent of his body.
A fund has been set up to raise money for the O’Conner’s family. They weren’t insured and now have funeral expenses to pay for.
