WEST KELOWNA – Strangers with fire extinguishers were able to keep a vehicle fire from spreading this afternoon.
RCMP Cpl. Tania Carroll says in a media release the fire started in a vehicle that was being driven down Stevens Road around 3:30 p.m. today, Sept. 7.
Carroll says the quick actions of the vehicles driver and a passersby used multiple fire extinguishers to keep the vehicle fire from getting out of control and spreading to the dry grass along the shoulder of the road.
The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle inhaled smoke during his efforts to manage the blaze but no one was injured.
