The Okanagan as seen from the eyes of someone falling from the sky
OKANAGAN – They look like sky ninjas or superheroes soaring above the clouds, and you might recognize their birds eye view of the ground below.
Skydiving enthusiast Chris Ellom captured some incredible footage of his favourite sky dives this past August and September taken as much as 11,000 feet above the Okanagan Valley, high enough to see the curvature of the earth.
In the video below, you can watch Ellom and his friends somersault in the air, play a mid-air version of what looks like blob tag, and sail down to terra firma, all with the stunning aerial backdrop of the Okanagan’s lakes and mountains. As Ellom himself put it, the skies are the most stunning playground (for those brave enough to jump out of an aircraft with nothing more than a parachute, that is).
If you’re ready to take the dive, there are a couple companies that offer tandem and solo skydiving experiences, including Okanagan Skydive based in Vernon and Skydive Oliver.
