SHE’S BACK: Sharon Shepherd to make another run for Mayor of Kelowna

KELOWNA – Former Mayor Sharon Shepherd has confirmed she will run again for Mayor of Kelowna.

She has called a press conference for tomorrow and confirmed her intentions on a Twitter page @mayorshepherd. 

"I have the experience to lead our city of Kelowna to being the best, most beautiful mid-sized city in North America," the page says. 

She is not yet listed on the City of Kelowna website. If confirmed, she joins former councillor Colin Basran in the race for the city's top job as well as Kelly Row, San Condy and Chuck Hardy.

The two-time former councillor and two-term mayor from 2005 to 2011 cited the need for experience.

"There are a number of new faces poised to join city council and the city is facing a number of crucial initiatives, such as the revitalization of City Park, the development of the various town centres in Rutland, Glenmore and South Pandosy, the protection of our lakefront, the continued success of our business community, the growth of our technology sector, and the importance of our air and water quality," the invitation said. "It is vital that we have leadership with the experience necessary to navigate the difficult waters ahead."
