Canadian who travelled to UK to sexually abuse kids jailed for more than 8 years

A Canadian man who travelled to the United Kingdom with plans to sexually abuse children has been sentenced to eight years and eight months behind bars.

Police in Kent say officers arrested Glenn Schulz, 38, at Gatwick Airport shortly after he arrived in the country on May 21.

They say he had planned to meet two children in Kent to sexually abuse them.

Police say Schulz pleaded guilty to arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence at an earlier hearing and was sentenced Monday.

A man of the same name and age pleaded guilty in 2014 to importing or distributing as well as possession of child pornography in Surrey, B.C., provincial court.

He was sentenced to a year in jail and three years of probation. Court officials say a warrant has been issued on a breach of probation charge.
