Mid-November warmest in years: temperature records fall in Saskatchewan, Manitoba

Temperature records are falling like leaves across the Prairies.

In Winnipeg on Wednesday it reached 18.8 C at the airport, smashing the old record of 14.4 C set in 1923 and 1930.

The average daytime high in Regina for this time of year is 1 C and the typical night time low is closer to -8 C.

Regina reached a high of 21.7 C on Wednesday — the previous record was 18.9 C set in 1887.

Communities right across Saskatchewan also set warm weather records.

The hot spot in Saskatchewan was Maple Creek at 23.9 C.

“Everyone of our reporting stations in Saskatchewan broke a record yesterday, right from the extreme northern parts of the province right to the south,” said Environment Canada’s Mike McDonald.

“There is no sign of any snow for the next seven days.”
