KELOWNA, B.C. – The top Mountie in Kelowna, B.C., has been transferred to another job days after videos emerged of an officer punching a suspect.
Supt. Brent Mundle is taking a new position with the senior management team of the force’s Southeast Division based in the Okanagan city.
He says in a news release that he accomplished a great deal for Kelowna by implementing programs that benefited the community.
Southeast District Commander Brad Haugli says in the release that Mundle put his employees and community first since becoming head of the detachment in December 2016.
The RCMP says Mundle’s transfer is not related to any current issues and was in the works for quite some time.
Videos taken by bystanders this week show an RCMP officer punching a suspect several times during an arrest. (Kelowna Daily Courier)
