Tate Taylor, director of ‘The Help,’ to film James Brown biographical feature film in Miss.

JACKSON, Miss. – The Mississippi native who directed “The Help” says he’ll make a biographical feature film about James Brown in the state this fall.

Tate Taylor made the announcement Monday in Jackson, where he was joined by Gov. Phil Bryant.

Taylor grew up in Jackson and now has a home in southwest Mississippi, near Natchez.

Bryant says it will be filmed this fall in Natchez and Jackson, including filming at the Mississippi Coliseum on the state fairgrounds, where Brown performed a concert in February 1969.

“The Help,” released in 2011, was filmed in several Mississippi locations, including Greenwood and Jackson.
