Lake Country ArtWalk a Huge Success

With over 300 artists featured and over 3000 works on display, attendees to the 24th annual Lake Country ArtWalk over the past weekend were offered a real treat to the senses. With so much to see visually, the outdoor concert stage and food areas were a welcome break to listen to fantastic local musicians and enjoy some great food and beverage options while regaining the necessary energy to experience all that ArtWalk had to offer.

As is tradition, the votes for the 2017 People’s Choice of favourite artist have been tallied and this year’s artist is Jolene Mackie whose painted works were featured in Memorial Hall.  The top 10 favourite artists selected by attendees of this year’s ArtWalk include:

1. Jolene Mackie
2. Brandy Barry Wyatt
3. Anitia McComas
4. Alex Fong
5. Sara Gagnon
6. Bobby Vandenhoorn, Juve Furtado, Fiona Neal  (a three way tie)
7. Will Enns
8. Ann Willsie
9. Dennis Weber
10. Bonny Roberts

While the much needed rain on Saturday was a bit of an inconvenience, it did not deter attendees with entrance numbers and art sales similar to previous years. Adjunct activities related to the Colour Canada theme were well received and people had fun responding to the trivia scattered throughout the venues.
ArtWalk Committee Chair Sharon McCoubrey said, “We were thrilled to hear from so many people that they enjoyed themselves at the ArtWalk festival this past weekend, and that they were impressed by the quality of the artworks.”

Mark your calendar now, the 25th anniversary of the Lake Country ArtWalk will take place Saturday and Sunday, September 8 and 9th, 2018.
