ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Latest on police attempts to negotiate with an armed man barricaded in a house in south Anchorage (all times local):

Two Anchorage police officers were struck Thursday by gunfire at the scene of standoff with an armed man that began Wednesday.

Police say the suspect fired shots that hit the officers.

One officer was transported to a hospital for treatment. The second officer was treated at the scene.

The suspect remains in the house.

The incident began midmorning Wednesday when workers trimming trees for a power company in a public right of way reported the man ordered them to leave and then fired shots.

Negotiations were hampered because the suspect did not have a phone.

Police on Wednesday afternoon attempted to deploy gas to force the man out of his home. The suspect fired shots at officers.

Police continued to monitor the home all night and into Thursday.

Anchorage police continued Thursday to monitor a south-side home where shots were fired Wednesday and a man refuses to come out.

Workers trimming trees for a power company reported the man stepped out of his house Wednesday, ordered them off his property and fired shots.

Police say the men were cutting trees in a public right of way and not on the man’s Ginami Street property.

Police surrounded the home Wednesday afternoon. Communications were limited because the man does not have a phone but police eventually spoke to him.

Officers tried to deploy gas into the home to force the man out.

Police say the man fired shots at officers.

No one has been injured.

Police say they’re continuing to seek a peaceful resolution to the incident.
