RCMP probe fiery highway crash, car and chip truck engulfed in flames

QUESNEL, B.C. – RCMP continue to investigate a fiery crash north of Quesnel, B.C., that shut down a major highway for hours.

Police say the crash happened Wednesday afternoon, when a car crossed the centre line of Highway 97 and collided head on with a chip truck.

Both vehicles burst into flames, and the fire spread to surrounding trees, prompting crews from the forestry minister to rush in and battle the blaze.

Police have not yet confirmed how many people were in the car when the crash happened.

The driver and lone occupant of the chip truck was uninjured.

Anyone who witnessed the crash are asked to contact the police. (CKPG)
