UPDATE: Power restored in Westsyde after truck destroys pole

KAMLOOPS – Over 4,000 homes were without power in Kamloops for over an hour this morning after a truck brought down a power pole, splitting it in two.

It appears the crane on an Eagle West truck became tangled in hydro wires on Batchelor Drive this morning, Sept. 19, and when the driver tried to pull away, the pole snapped and the wires came down.

B.C. Hydro crews were on scene quickly and the power was only out for about and hour and a half. The lights came back on right around noon.

Homes from Batchelor Heights all the way to Westsyde Secondary were without power.

While the Mounties attended the scene there is no word what caused the crash or what factors may have played a role.
