NBC News anchor Brian Williams ready to return to work following knee surgery
NEW YORK, N.Y. – NBC News anchor Brian Williams is returning from the disabled list.
The network said Thursday he’ll be back to work at “Nightly News” next Tuesday, after Labor Day. He’s been out since undergoing knee replacement surgery on Aug. 6.
NBC has the top-rated evening news program, but ABC’s “World News” with Diane Sawyer has been creeping closer. Lester Holt has been filling in for Williams since his surgery.
Williams said in an interview with NBC medical reporter Nancy Snyderman he’s been highly motivated to end 30 years of knee pain. He thanked viewers, particularly those who have had similar surgery, for their good wishes.
