The Latest: Sheriff: Compton slayings likely gang-related

LOS ANGELES – The Latest on a triple homicide in Compton (all times local):

8:15 a.m.

Los Angeles County Sheriff Jim McDonnell says a triple homicide in Compton is probably gang-related.

The sheriff came to the scene early Wednesday and told KTLA-TV that the victims were found in a utility room attached to a restroom building in a city park.

McDonnell says the shooting occurred Tuesday night and detectives continue to process the scene.

McDonnell says the Sheriff’s Department has made gains against crime in Compton and a triple murder in the city is a setback.

The sheriff pledges to find out who committed the crime.

Authorities say three men are dead following a shooting in Los Angeles County.

The Sheriff’s Department says that gunfire erupted late Tuesday night in Compton.

The department says that the three men were pronounced dead at the scene.

But there was no immediate word about what touched off the gunfire or if there were any suspects.

The department told The Associated Press that it had no other information and was awaiting more details from detectives at the scene.
