UPDATE: Ellis Street fire burns garage, trailer and extends to neighbouring house
PENTICTON – Penticton firefighters put out a garage fire that spread to a nearby trailer and house in downtown Penticton this morning.
Penticton Fire Department Chief Larry Watkinson says crews were dispatched at around 10 a.m. today, Sept. 26, to the fire in the 600 block of Ellis Street. Crews arrived to find heavy fire coming from the back of a small garage.
Watkinson says the fire began in the garage and spread in both directions, to an adjacent house and a nearby trailer.
“The fire was fuelled by propane and other chemical products being stored in the garage,” Watkinson says, adding firefighters took added precautions to minimize water damage.
Watkinson says no one was injured and pets were safely removed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
