KELOWNA – The majority of people taking advantage of the annual Thanksgiving dinner at the Kelowna Gospel Mission on Monday will be the working poor and families, not the homeless.
The Mission is gearing up to serve 800 people a traditional Thanksgiving meal of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, vegetables, cranberry sauce, rolls, and of course, pumpkin pie.
The Mission’s executive director Randy Benson says he’s grateful to community for the donations of food, time and money.
“Kelowna really cares about the working poor and homeless,” he says in a media release.
Over 50 volunteers have already stepped forward to donate their time to serve Monday’s meal between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.
