Kamloops RCMP task force bust drug traffickers on North Shore
KAMLOOPS – Five men have a December court date thanks to a two-day crackdown on drug traffickers in Kamloops.
The Mounties say members of the Targeted Enforcement Unit went after traffickers working along the North Shore corridor and in the downtown core.
"Several purchases of drugs were made by undercover officers," Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says in a media release. "These controlled substances will be sent away to determine their exact composition, but they are believed to be methamphetamine, heroin and fentanyl. Cash and cellular phones were also seized."
Of the five men arrested, three have been placed under 'red zone' conditions meaning they not allowed in the area of Tranquille Road from Don Street to Poplar Steet as well as the area west towards the Thompson River, police say. One of the men arrested has been given a condition not to go within 100 metres of the Crossroads Inn.
All five have been released from custody with a court date in December.
Five more suspects are expected to be arrested and charged in the near future.
