COQUITLAM, B.C. – The co-operation of four police detachments in Metro Vancouver has led to the arrest of a man accused of more than a dozen robberies.
A man is accused of robbing fast-food outlets, convenience stores and banks from Sept. 22 to Oct. 17 in Burnaby, Coquitlam, New Westminster and Langley.
Cpl. Michael McLaughlin says Coquitlam RCMP had four cases they believed were connected to crimes happening in Langley and then Burnaby RCMP and New Westminster police made similar links.
Thirty-two-year-old Derek Muirhead was arrested last Friday and police say he faces 13 charges of robbery and one count of assault with a weapon in the four jurisdictions.
Police say more charges are possible as they continue their investigation.
Muirhead will appear in a Surrey court on Friday.
