Most actively traded companies on the TSX, TSX Venture Exchange markets

TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,820.92 down 24.14 points):

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Down four cents, or 0.80 per cent, at $4.94 on 6.6 million shares. VistaJet announced it will launch its U.S. fleet of Bombardier business jets next March to be operated and managed by Jet Aviation Flight Services.

Ainsworth Lumber Co. Ltd. (TXS:ANS). Down three cents, or 0.77 per cent, at $3.89 on 5.8 million shares.

Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TSX:TXG). Miner. Up 12 cents, or 8.05 per cent, at $1.61 on 3.7 million shares. The gold sector rose 0.87 per cent as bullion prices advanced after the release of the jobs data with the December contract up $13.50 to US$1,386.50 an ounce. Commodity prices were higher and December copper rose two cents to US$3.26 a pound. The base metals group rose 1.07 per cent

Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM). Oil and gas. Up one cent, or 0.09 per cent, at $11.72 on 3.5 million shares. The energy sector was up 0.13 per cent, as worries about supply disruptions from the Mideast helped push the October crude contract on the New York Mercantile Exchange ahead $2.16 to US$110.53 a barrel, its highest close since May, 2011.

BlackBerry (TSX:BB). Wireless communications. Down 31 cents, or 0.09 per cent, at $11.29 on 3.2 million shares. The stock price declined after three days of strong gains, partly fuelled by reports that the smartphone maker wants to launch an auction process for its assets sooner rather than later. Telecoms continued to shed gains racked up earlier in the week after U.S. telco giant Verizon said earlier in the week it wouldn’t be entering the Canadian wireless market. The group backed off 1.12 per cent

Raging River Exploration Inc. (TSX:RRX). Oil and gas. Up 11 cents, or 2.05 per cent, at $5.48 on 3.1 million shares.

Toronto Venture Exchange (954.92 up 7.14 points):

Novus Energy, Inc. (TSXV:NVS). Oil and gas. Up two cents, or 1.84 per cent, at $1.105 on 5.5 million shares.

Caribou King Resources Ltd.(TSXV:CKR). Miner. Up two cents, or 50 per cent, at six cents on 3.5 million shares.

Company reporting major news:

Torstar Corp. (TSX:TS.B). Multi-media. Unchanged at $5.09 on 36,180 shares. The company announced it was folding its Torstar Digital operations into other divisions of the company. The move also involved cutting about 10 senior managers at Torstar Digital, which will cease to exist in its current form.
