Vernon campfire ban lifted

VERNON – After a summer of extreme fire hazard, the City of Vernon is allowing campfires once again.

As of noon today, Oct. 2, the campfire and fire appliance ban was rescinded, according to a media release.

The City says the campfire ban is no longer in effect in all areas of the city including the Foothills and Blue Jay subdivisions, Predator Ridge, Canadian Lakeview Estates and Okanagan Landing.

With the return to seasonal weather conditions and the reduction of the wildfire risk, the province lifted the campfire ban in the Kamloops Fire Centre on Sept. 22.
