Gunmen attack cantinas in rural Guatemala; officials say 10 killed, 19 wounded

SAN JOSE NACAHUIL, Guatemala – Guatemalan firefighters say men firing from cars poured gunshots into three cantinas in a rural town, killing at least 10 people and injuring 19.

Firefighters spokesman Sergio Vasquez says the attacks occurred Saturday night in the town of San Jose Nacahuil, some 25 miles (45 kilometres) northeast of Guatemala City. He says several children are among the wounded.

He says nobody has yet been arrested and officials are not sure of the motive for the attack. The town is reached by dirt roads that wind through mountainous terrain.
