Toronto FC narrows GM search down to two, says job hunt will soon be over
TORONTO – Toronto FC has narrowed its search for a new general manager down to two candidates.
And Tim Leiweke, CEO of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, told season ticket-holders at the MLS team’s annual barbecue Sunday that it won’t take long to sign the right one.
The struggling 4-13-10 team fired president and GM Kevin Payne earlier this week.
Leiweke also told his audience that the team was looking at two major deals on designated players in the recent transfer window, with the MLSE board authorizing $26 million to spend.
The search for talent continues with the MLSE boss saying the club is focusing on strikers.
