Police investigating double fatal collision north of Clearwater

BLUE RIVER – Police in Clearwater and the Central Interior are investigating a double fatal collision north of Clearwater.

Southeast District RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says in a news release the crash happened early this morning, Oct. 3, on Highway 5 north of Blue River.

At approximately 8 a.m., police responded to a crash involving two vehicles. Two occupants of one of the vehicles died as a result.

Moskaluk says investigators determined a northbound Dodge Caravan had crossed the centre line of the highway and collided with a southbound private tour bus.

A man in his 60s and female in her 40s were in the minivan, and were pronounced dead at the scene. One person on the bus had minor injuries.

RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service continue to investigate the crash and the deaths.

As of 4 p.m., Highway 5 remained close but check Drive B.C. for detour and road closure updates and information.
