GAYLORD, Mich. – An event that draws snowmobile enthusiasts to northern Michigan has been postponed due to concerns over the COVID-19 virus.
The Michigan Snowmobile Festival has been moved to February 2022, according to the Gaylord Area Convention & Tourism Bureau, which has hosted it since 2015.
“Our committee met in the fall and we were moving forward with the event with several back up plans in place to comply with COVID-19 restrictions,” said Christy Walcott, the bureau’s marketing director. “We waited until it was necessary to start investing in marketing the event before deciding postponing was our best course of action due to the uncertainty as to when restrictions will be lifted.”
The festival features a snowmobile fun run which attracts snowmobilers primarily from lower Michigan, Ohio and Indiana.
