Buck Pierce isn’t saying goodbye to Winnipeg despite joining the B.C. Lions
WINNIPEG – New B.C. quarterback Buck Pierce is looking forward to adding depth at the position with the Lions but says Winnipeg will remain home.
Pierce, who spent 3 1/2 seasons with the Blue Bombers, was traded to the Lions on Sunday for Canadian receiver Akeem Foster.
Pierce says he was sad when he first learned of the deal, but wants to keep playing football for as long as he can and believes he can still contribute.
His time in Winnipeg, like his previous tenure with the Lions in Vancouver, was marred by injury.
His best season was 2011, when he led the Blue Bombers to the Grey Cup game. Winnipeg dropped a 34-23 decision to the Lions.
Pierce says he plans to continue to live in Winnipeg when his playing days end and would love to work in the Blue Bombers organization.
