Hawks rescued from Elephant Hill wildfire released back into the wild

KAMLOOPS – Two Kestrel hawks are home again after being displaced by a B.C. wildfire this summer.

The chicks were spotted and rescued by a members of a B.C. Hydro crew about three months ago when they were replacing power poles in Ashcroft damaged by the Elephant Hill wildfire.

The hawks were taken to the B.C. Wildlife Park in Kamloops where they were cared for until they were old enough to be released back into the wild, which happened last week.

B.C. Hydro posted the video of the release of one of the birds on its Facebook page yesterday, Oct. 3.
