WHL Roundup: Winnipeg Ice edge Vancouver Giants, Wheat Kings blank Rockets

LANGLEY, B.C. – A goal and an assist from Connor Geekie lifted the Winnipeg Ice to a 4-3 win over the Vancouver Giants in Western Hockey League play on Wednesday.

Geekie scored the game winner for Winnipeg 9:51 into the third period, adding to goals from Skyler Bruce, Owen Pederson and Matthew Savoie.

Mazden Leslie, Zack Ostapchuk and Carson Haynes scored for Vancouver (1-4-3).

Daniel Hauser made 17 saves for the Ice (9-1-0) and Jesper Vikman stopped 44-of-48 shots for the Giants.

KELOWNA, B.C. — Carson Bjarnason stopped all 29 shots he faced as Brandon (5-4-1) blanked Kelowna (3-5-1). Nate Danielson opened the scoring 19:31 into the first period and added an assist in the second.

RED DEER, Alta — Ben King scored twice and contributed an assist as Red Deer (8-0-0) downed Calgary (3-3-2). Jayden Grubbe and Kalan Lind had two-point nights with a goal and a helper each.

BLADES 3 HURRICANES 2

LETHBRIDGE, Alta. — Brandon Lisowsky put away the game-winning goal 16:39 into the second period as Saskatoon (7-2-0) topped Lethbridge (4-6-0) and stretched its win streak to four straight games. Ethan Chadwick stopped 29-of-31 shots for the Blades.
