Early morning fire sends two women to Kelowna General Hospital

KELOWNA – An early morning fire is being investigated after it sent two Kelowna women to hospital.

Kelowna Fire Department Platoon Capt. Tim Light said in a press release firefighters found smoke coming from the eaves and an upstairs window of a house in the 400 block of Dell Road after an emergency call at approximately 6:36 a.m. today, Oct. 6.

Upon entering, Light said firefighters found the fire in the basement of the house, putting it out but not before it caused extensive damage to the main floor of the house.

Four residents escaped the blaze but two women were sent to hospital to be examined for smoke inhalation, Light said.

No word on the cause of the fire.

Emergency social services has been notified and are giving aid to the displaced residents.
