Actor Harrison Ford interviews Indonesia’s President Yudhoyono on environment
JAKARTA, Indonesia – Hollywood actor Harrison Ford has discussed environmental degradation and government efforts to address climate change with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Ford, known for his starring roles in the “Indiana Jones” and “Star Wars” movies, is also an environmental activist and a director of Conservation International.
A presidential spokesman says Yudhoyono explained Indonesia’s commitment to preserving its environment in the meeting Tuesday at the presidential office.
Ford is in Indonesia for the production of a documentary movie on climate change called “The Years of Living Dangerously.”
The official Antara news agency says Ford earlier interviewed Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan, who was reportedly angered over Ford’s criticism of environmental damage to the country’s forests and parks.
Fires used to clear Indonesian land are blamed for regional haze and worsening climate change.
