The Latest: Suspects to be extradited to Utah in kidnap case

SALT LAKE CITY – The Latest on a father and son suspected of tying up a woman and her teenage daughters in a Utah basement (all times local):

A father and son suspected of tying up a woman and her four teenage daughters in a Utah basement will be sent back from Wyoming to face kidnapping and other charges.

Police say 51-year-old Flint Wayne Harrison and 22-year-old Dereck James “DJ” Harrison said Tuesday that they won’t fight extradition. They are facing 16 charges each in Utah.

The men were arrested after a five-day manhunt that ended near a remote Wyoming campsite where the two had been hiding out.

Police say they lured a woman and her four teenage daughters to a basement last week and tied them up before the women escaped.

Dereck Harrison’s mother, Maryanne Harrison, also will be extradited from Wyoming to face a parole violation charge after she left Utah to try to help her son.

Authorities are looking for a missing Utah worker’s maintenance truck near the hideout of a father and son who fled to Wyoming amid accusations they kidnapped a woman and her four teenage daughters.

The Sublette County Sheriff’s Office said crews plan to use sonar to search parts of a lake close to the suspects’ campsite on Wednesday.

Police are investigating whether Flint Wayne Harrison and son Dereck James “DJ” Harrison used the truck to get from Salt Lake City to Wyoming, where they were captured this weekend. The worker disappeared from the area where they were hiding out.

Authorities say there’s no evidence the cases are linked, but they’re leaving no stone unturned.

The Harrisons are accused of using drugs and tying up the family in a basement because they thought the mother reported them to authorities.
