Body found in Kelowna orchard was not victim of “random attack”

KELOWNA – Police are now calling the death of a woman, whose body was found in a Kelowna orchard yesterday, a homicide.

The body of a woman between 25 and 35 years old was found yesterday morning, Oct. 11, on a private orchard on Cooper Road after what police say was not a “random attack.”

Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says in a media release the homicide investigators continue to work with B.C. Coroners Service to confirm her identity and “probe the circumstances surrounding her death.”

“Once the victim has been positively identified, our priority will be to properly notify the woman’s next of kin,” he says in the release. “Although the woman has not yet been positively identified, police do not believe that she was the victim of a random attack.”

Anyone who may have witnessed anything in the area prior, or anyone with any information is asked to contact the Serious Crimes Unit of the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
